How To Clean Vape Devices

When you first open your new vape device, it looks sleek and shiny, so you can't wait to get going. However, a couple of months down the line, when it looks dirty and its performance has deteriorated, you might feel like you need a new one.

Does this scenario sound familiar? Before you rush to buy a new one to replace your dirty e-cigarette, do you know you can clean a vape device? If you have no idea how to do so, don't despair, as everyone is a beginner at some point and you can't expect to know automatically.

If you want your vape pen, vaporiser or vape box to last for a long time, regular cleaning and maintenance is the key. Ensuring you maintain vape device functionality while keeping all of its components clean also ensures you can enjoy maximum flavour every time. To help your device carry on working as well as the day you bought it, read on for some handy tips on how to clean a vape device.

The Anatomy of a Vape Device

To use our vape kit cleaning tips, it's best we get the basic the ins and outs of your vape device down. A vape kit is usually made of three main components: a tank, a coil and a mod. The vape tank holds the e-liquid and will usually house the coil and cotton wicking.

The vape coils are the heating element that provides the flavour and vapour. Each coil features cotton wicking that absorbs the e-liquid and turns it into vapour when heated.

The vape mod is the unit's power source. Also known as 'a battery', the mod is where you can fire up the device and also fiddle with the settings (if your vape kit is equipped with settings).

How To Clean A Vape Tank

To ensure maximum flavour when you buy new e-liquids, don't put different flavours straight in your tank, as you'll probably still have the residue of the last e-liquid you used. To avoid this, cleaning the vape tank is crucial between flavours. Usually, you can just give it a quick rinse. The last thing you want is that delicious lemonade to taste like cheesecake right?

If your tank is made of glass, fill a bowl with warm water, remove the tank from the mod and remove any remaining e-liquid from the tank. Disassemble the tank and place the components into the bowl. Wash all of the components until they are clean.

If your tank is made of plastic, fill a bowl with cold or room temperature water instead before following the previous steps.

Add a few drops of dish soap if they are very dirty. Dry each component with a paper towel, let them stand for ten minutes and then reassemble the clean vape tank on to the device.

How To Clean Vape Coils

Vape coils have a massive influence on flavour. Taking out your coil to clean it is just another part of regular vape pen care. Your coil may need to be cleaned if it looks dark, crusted or damaged, or if you experience a burnt taste.

Remove the tank from the vape device, discard the remaining e-liquid and twist the coil anti-clockwise to unscrew it from the tank. Take the wicks out of the coils and dry burn the coils slightly. Dry burning is when you hold the fire button on your device and blow into the coil, to remove excess e-liquid.

Remove the atomiser from your mod and place the atomiser under running water. Gently brush it with a toothbrush.

Rinse it well and then remove any droplets of water by dry burning the coil before reassembling it.

How Do I Clean The Resin Out of My Vape?

For a vaporiser that uses resin based CBD products, disassemble the separate pieces and soak them well in warm water for some time. This will allow the residue to soften and you will be able to wipe it away easily. Use paper towels, soft sponges, or cotton buds to remove the resin and then let the pieces air dry.

Can I Clean My Vape With Rubbing Alcohol?

You can clean the tank with an alcohol solution to ensure it is completely clean. Add the solution to a paper towel or cloth and wipe any tough areas with a gentle scrubbing motion until they are totally clean. Then, wipe the components, rinse with warm water and leave to dry for ten to 15 minutes before reassembling the device.

Can I Clean My Vape Mod?

Unfortunately, as the mod is an electronic device, there aren't as easy to clean as tanks. However, a dry cloth or tissue is all you'll really need to maintain its cleanliness. Simply wipe it down and you'll see that wonderful device shine once again.
