How To Spot Non-Compliant Products On The Market

In plenty of industries, the rise of a product also triggers the emergence of counterfeits as bootleg vendors look for ways to increase their profits without considering the health and wellness of their consumers. This is no different for the vape industry and is in fact, becoming an increasing issue.

Vaping unlicensed products can be detrimental to your health and can even result in death. The process of inhaling absolutely anything should not be taken lightly which is why certified vape products undergo testing and are required to meet a high level of compliance before reaching the market. Any products which do not meet these regulatory requirements are not legally allowed to be sold.

Unfortunately, this is not enough to completely stop these products reaching the market. But fortunately, there are ways that you can spot dodgy vape products and thus, keep yourself safe from illegal, potentially harmful products that are floating around. And it’s really simple, too.

The U.K regulations for vape products are clear. Whilst it would be a dream to stumble upon a product which offers 5ml e-liquid and 5% nicotine strength, this will and should not happen due to the fact that it is illegal. The law states that no more than 2ml of e-liquid and 20mg of nicotine (2%) should be found in one product. Most vapers are aware of the current regulations, but if you're not, it wouldn't hurt to get a little more familiar to make it easier to spot dodgy vapes.

Whilst puff counts will vary between products, the good thing about spotting counterfeits is that if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. Disposable bars can offer around 400-600 puffs, so if you come across a bar which offers 1200 puffs per device, it is most likely too good to be true.

This is the same for pricing; anything that is way lower than the average price could cost you in the long run.

Nicotine warning labels are a quick and easy way for anyone to spot counterfeit products. You don’t need any vape knowledge - just have a look at the front of the product which should clearly read ‘This product contains nicotine which is a highly addictive substance.' No warning label - no sale!

Counterfeit products often lack quality due to cheaper manufacturing costs and by cutting corners in every way possible. So you may find that even the quality of the packaging is slightly less intact than the original product, and the nicotine warning label is slightly impaired. Sometimes, it comes down to pure initiative, so don’t ignore those ‘minor’ errors such as a typo - a genuine manufacturer would never knowingly market a product with design faults.

Remember, vape products are regulated by TPD and U.K Law for a reason. Vendors who choose to ignore these regulations are putting vapers at risk. The final key clue to ensure your vape products are safe is by purchasing from a trusted, reputable retailer such as Vape Shop. We have thousands of vape products to suit every style of vaping, at unbeatable prices.
