IQOS ILUMA Heated Tobacco

IQOS is a smoke-free alternative to cigarettes that gently heats real tobacco instead of burning it. The device warms specially designed tobacco sticks — called HEETS or TEREA (for IQOS ILUMA) — to release a flavourful nicotine-containing vapour without burning the tobacco.

While IQOS is not risk-free, research reports that IQOS emits on average 90–95% lower levels of harmful chemicals compared with cigarette smoke. Plus, because there’s no combustion, there’s also no ash and far less lingering smell.

1. Charge your device — Place it in the charging dock or connect it with the USB cable until it’s fully charged.
2. Prepare the right tobacco stick — Use HEETS for earlier IQOS models like IQOS Originals DUO, or TEREA sticks for the newer IQOS ILUMA range.
3. Heat and insert the tobacco stick — For IQOS Originals DUO, press the button on the device to start the heating process. Wait until it’s heated, then gently roll the end of the HEETS tobacco stick before inserting it into the holder. For IQOS ILUMA, simply insert the TEREA stick. The device will vibrate once, then wait for the second vibration before it’s ready to puff.
4. Inhale and enjoy — Puff through the inserted heated tobacco stick just like you would with a cigarette.
5. Dispose and recharge — Remove the used stick when finished and dispose of it. Then, recharge your device for the next use.

The main difference is the device they’re made for:

• IQOS HEETS — Designed for earlier-generation devices like IQOS Originals DUO. They contain real tobacco that’s heated using a blade inside the device.
• TEREA sticks — Made exclusively for the IQOS ILUMA range. These use a sealed tobacco design and a Smartcore induction system, so there’s no blade to clean and the tobacco stays contained.

Both offer a variety of flavours and nicotine strengths, but they are not interchangeable — HEETS only work with compatible IQOS Originals devices, while TEREA sticks are only for IQOS ILUMA.
